EXPO “Meet & Greet”

Retailers and VIP "Around the World" Hotel Package holders will be treated to a special "Trade-Only Preview" from 3-5 p.m. on the show room floor. From 5-6 p.m. we are holding an EXPO "Meet & Greet" social event during our Show Specials Private Preview & Sale where you will have the opportunity to mingle with the artists and exhibitors. Plus, you will meet the artists who made pieces for our Show Specials. The Friday evening festivities are not open to the public, only to those retailers who contact me and register for entrance and for those collectors who take advantage of the "Around the World" Hotel Package. VIP “Around the World” Collectors' Breakfast

Start EXPO off with a great meal! Enjoy a full breakfast buffet and enjoy the company of other collectors. Tickets are included when you purchase the “Around the World” Hotel Package or tickets can be purchased separately for

Throughout the weekend for teddy bear lovers of all ages, an “on-the-spot” opportunity to make your own teddy comes to life. Visitors to the showroom floor will be able to select a teddy, bunny, panda, doggie or kitty to complete under tutelage of Bev White. After stuffing and inserting the heart, the animal will be closed and a variety of teddy clothing will be available for additional purchase.

“Ken Yenke’s Historical Teddy Display & Appraisals”

Bear expert Ken Yenke and his wife Brenda will offer a unique historical presentation of teddy bears, which will include one-of-a-kind rarities from their own collection, at the 2008 Doll & Teddy Bear EXPO in Washington, DC.

One special blue-ribbon winner that will be present is a 1906 center-seam Steiff bear honoring Margarete Steiff. Dressed in 1890s attire and posed with a miniature wheelchair and sewing machine, Brenda entered the vignette in the “Best of Show” competition at the 12th annual Festival of Steiff in 1997. Other exceptional teddy bears from their personal collection will also be showcased.

This will be a private (showing) display for those attending Ken Yenke’s seminar. There will be several unique prizes and registration includes a free evaluation/appraisal for each paid attendee to the seminar. For more than one appraisal, there will be a small fee. It’s guaranteed to be a fun and memorable event for new or advanced collectors!

“Good Bears of the World Auction”

Good Bears of the World and the Giving Paws Den of Virginia will feature many unique artist bears and collectible manufactured bears in their live charity auction. One hundred percent of the funds raised at the auction will be used to help these groups supply teddy bears to those in need of a reassuring hug and a teddy bear companion. Please help us put teddy bears in the arms of those who need them and add a special teddy bear to your collection.
